How can technology be used to empower students and help them become self-directed learners? In this presentation, I will be sharing some ideas for how technology can be used to motivate students to study outside lesson times, and encourage them to take ownership of their learning.
We will look at examples of online activities and games, both on my website and various other sites that feature free online study materials, and look at ways of increasing learner autonomy and involvement by setting collaborative tasks for learners to complete between lessons, using web based applications such as blogs, social media tools, and webquests.
We will also discuss some of the ways in which online activities can be used to bridge
the gap between individual lessons and free up more time for student interaction in the classroom, using examples from my own teaching practice for illustration.
