Stefanie Fieber-Grandits: vidusign – a project for video education and sign language
The European Vidusign project will explore the creative use of video for the young Deaf and how video can support creative discovery and problem-based learning. It will use a visual approach and work transversely, across different countries and communication strategies (oral, sign language) to help young Deaf people, aged fifteen to twenty four, during the period they are in the transition from school to work.
Video has been used for a some time by the deaf mainly in connection with communicating or learning sign language and generally as a static tool.
Vidusign will use the synergies between video in education and sign language too strengthen visual and literacy competences for the Deaf as a key to a barrier-free Europe in education and the world of work.
The presentation tend to raise awareness in the hearing world for visual languages and how all learners (deaf and hearing) can benefit from using visual tools, like video technology, to overcome barriers like different languages, cultures and knowledges.
Position: Project Manager at equalizent GmbH, which is a bilingual, multicultural organisation with a diversity management based organisational culture specialised in training of Deaf and hard of hearing people.
Master of Social Science Degree (education science / inclusion). Counsellor of the European Counselling Association for Counselling. Excellent knowledge in Austrian sign language, special knowledge in sign language and culture of deaf and hard of hearing community.
Professional Experienced in project management, as trainer for deaf and hard of hearing young adults and adults, in networking with deaf and hard of hearing pedagogues and bilingual education experts.
Experienced in counselling and academic experiences in the field of inclusion and empowerment.
