What is the future of ELT materials design and development with new and emerging technologies?

A thought-provoking look at the future of materials design and publishing for English language learning and teaching. There will be an emphasis on the role of new and emerging technologies, and the propensity for them to act as catalysts to disrupt the status quo. The relationship between authors and publishers will also be examined. We haven’t seen anything yet.

Bio

I have worked in ELT for over thirty years as a teacher, teacher trainer, and multimedia materials designer and developer. In 2004, I co-founded L2 (www.L2.co.uk), and subsequently jonMoat (www.jonMoat.co.uk). L2’s first product, WORDREADY Young learner English, was nominated for an ELTons Award in 2006, and this was followed by WORDREADY Academic English, which won an ELTon for Digital Innovation in 2012. I have a BSc Psychology, the Trinity DipTESOL, MA Media-Assisted Language Teaching & Learning, and am currently conducting doctoral research at Lancaster University into emerging practices around the use of iPads in ELT.
