This talk focuses on teaching social media writing skills to advanced learners. It provides practical tips for teaching activities and highlights important language points which can be focused on in social media writing lessons.

The emphasis of this talk is on language rather than technology: I will argue that it is, at times, necessary to take a step back from technology to focus on the linguistic skills our learners need to succeed in social media writing. In this presentation I will analyse the specific social media writing skills our learners need to acquire in order to become effective social media writers. I will also suggest useful and engaging classroom activities which focus on developing these skills.
