The world of work is in constant flux, and we’re not just talking about the past few months. An increasing number of organisations, international assessment benchmarks and multinational businesses have recognised and acknowledged that there’s more to effective international communication than ‚just‘ language ability.

This talk will look at the key features of what makes people effective international communicators and challenge conventional thinking around the role of the language teacher.

I’ll identify a number of key areas which are not specifically related to language learning or acquisition, such as, future-work skills and cross-cultural competence,

and will then show you how you can address these key topics and develop these skills with your students to future-proof them for the world of work.

I’ll use examples from the new Basis for Business series (Cornelsen) including some ready-to-go free (digital) resources for you to use right away with your students.
